Acute Care

Nurse taking patient's temperature
The Department of Acute Care offers full time and part time courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels for the national and international professional communities.

We also provide a range of part time continuing professional development (CPD) modules and study days that are delivered in a variety of ways including face to face, blended learning and distance learning.

Our courses and modules are designed to meet the expectations of professional staff working in the rapidly changing acute care arena and to enable them to understand and meet the challenges in delivering health care.

All our staff have expertise in delivering modules across a range of health care settings, including acute, critical, high dependency and advanced care. We work in partnership with both acute and primary care trusts to ensure that content accurately reflects the needs for modern practice.

We are also committed to developing excellence in research with a view to enhance the patient experience. Led by Professor Sharon Andrew, our adult nursing research group are currently undertaking research in issues surrounding patient safety and experiences for patients, cares and nurse surrounding primary angioplasty.
