AHRC Studentships Grant success for ALSS
ALSS is please to announce that the Arts and Humanities Research Council has awarded the Faculty a grant for 8 postgraduate studentships under their Block Grant (Capacity Building) route (2011-2014).
The awards are as follows:
2011: 1 MA studentship in Publishing; 1 MA studentship in Children's Book Illustration
2012: 1 MA studentship in Publishing; 1 MA studentship in Children's Book Illustration; 1 PhD studentship (3 years) in Children's Book Illustration
2013: 1 MA studentship in Publishing; 1 MA studentship in Children's Book Illustration; 1 PhD studentship (3 years) in English literature
Prof Eugene Giddens, Faculty Director of Research, thanked those who helped secure the awards, saying: "These 8 studentships are worth around £200,000 of direct research-council funding; they also attest to this council's belief in our arts and humanities provision, its quality, and our research excellence in a new-university context. For each year that we advertise these studentships, our postgraduate portfolio will be brought to the eyes of thousands of potential applicants. This award also strengthens our case against any potential attempts to cut our HEFCE PGR funding (which has otherwise increased year-on-year). The award is, therefore, much bigger news than its monetary value would suggest."
As well as the AHRC studentships, there is also an institutionally-funded PhD studentship available through our Cultures of the Digital Economy Research Institute.
Details of how to apply for all these studentships are now available on the Anglia Ruskin job vacancies website.
For more information about the awards please contact Sarah Jones. The deadline for applications is 1 July 2011.
