Congratulations to all our members of academic staff who were awarded Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research, Scholarship & Development Awards at the recent Research Institutes' Conference.

The winners from the Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences were Professor Robert Home of Anglia Law School, who received an Award for Excellence in Doctoral Supervision, and Justin Williams (Department of Music and Performing Arts) and Clarissa Campbell-Orr (Department of Humanities and Social Sciences), who were both presented with an Award for Researcher.

Each winner received a cheque for £2000 that will be used to enhance their research endeavours.

The inaugural Research Institutes' Conference took place on 19 January in the newly opened Lord Ashcroft International Business School. Attended by over 100 delegates, it provided a fantastic opportunity for our Research Institutes to showcase their work to the wider internal community, celebrate the work they are involved in and network with staff across all our faculties and campuses.

The audience enjoyed presentations from members of all five Institutes, including the ALSS-based Cultures of the Digital Economy Research Institute (CoDE), each giving an overview of what they had achieved to date and their future aspirations.

Considered a significant success by all who attended, it has been decided that the Research Institutes' Conference will now be an annual event. The date for the 2013 event will be announced shortly.
