Alan Rochford
Alan graduated from Edinburgh University and subsequently completed postgraduate studies at Royal Holloway College (University of London) and University of Surrey where he specialised in conducting and wrote a thesis on The Rise of the Public Concert in London during the Restoration Period.
Alan is a former Council member of the London Symphony Chorus (LSC) and has sung with the LSC in numerous concerts and recordings in London and worldwide. He has worked with eminent conductors and composers including Michael Tippett, Leonard Bernstein, John Adams and James McMillan. He is on the selection panel for the LSC Young Conductors Scholarship Scheme.
As a Director of the Cambridge Music Festival, he has helped organise successful festivals themed on Mozart, Elgar and Schubert. Alan is a regular visitor to Austria and has a particular interest in Haydn and the Enlightenment and also Handel.
Alan is Director of the highly successful weekly Friday Lunchtime Concert Series and conducts Anglia Ruskin Chorus.
