Digital Performance Laboratory at the Human Computer Interaction conference
Tom Hall, Richard Hoadley and Krisztian Hofstadter of Anglia Ruskin's Digital Performance Laboratory were invited to take part in the Open House Festival of the 23rd BCS conference on Human Computer Interaction 2009 (HCI2009) held from 1-5 September. The conference was held at Churchill College and the Festival in the William Gates Building and Microsoft Research on Madingley Road.
Demonstrations included a collaborative performance using the unique 'Manta' interface from Snyderphonics by colleagues Tom Hall and Richard Hoadley using the custom designed 'Gaggle' ultrasonic interface. Collaborating were choreographer Jane Turner's troupe of dancers and composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad. Also demonstrated was the sonification of EEG data developed by Krisztian Hofstadter, a graduate student.

"The Festival of Interactive Technology at the 23rd British conference on Human-Computer Interaction was the largest event of its kind ever staged in Cambridge, bringing national and international attention from both press and technology researchers. The performance technologies demonstrated by Richard Hoadley, Tom Hall and Krisztian Hofstadter were a key contribution, highlighting the scope for creative experience in human use of technology."
