Chamber Choir

The Anglia Chamber Choir rehearses on Thursdays 5-7pm and is conducted by Paul Rhys. The choir is open to all students and staff at Anglia Ruskin University, and singers beyond. We are a choir of twenty to thirty members and sing a wide range of vocal music, both secular and sacred, from the Renaissance to the present day. Past concerts have included a performance in 2009 of Benjamin Britten's Coal Face in collaboration with the Anglia Sinfonia at the Arts Picturehouse in Cambridge; and a concert in 2010 of music for voices and string instruments featuring music by Monteverdi, Buxtehude, Mozart, John Cage, and the choir's conductor Paul Rhys. In 2012 we will give two performances of Michael Tippett's Five Spirituals from A Child of Our Time - at Anglia Ruskin University and at the Michaelhouse Centre in Cambridge. Membership of the Anglia Chamber Choir is via a brief, informal audition; some prior experience of sight-reading music is recommended. All are welcome.
