Anglia Language Programme (ALP)

With increasingly globalised economies, knowledge of a second language can greatly enhance employability. As one of our students you have the option to study a second language as a 15-credit module each year so your language learning counts towards your final degree. You can also take a second language in addition to your degree course. Staff may also study a second language, as can members of the public.

CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)

CELTA is an internationally recognised professional qualification which enables you to teach English either here or abroad. Awarded by Cambridge ESOL, its quality is assured.

International Examinations

To ensure your language skills are recognised universally we offer training and testing for two key International Examinations which are understood across the world. These include:

• DELE (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera or Spanish as a Foreigh Langauge)

Official qualifications which certify the level of competence and proficiency in using the Spanish language. The Instituto Cervantes awards them on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.

• IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

Measures the language ability of candidates and indicates whether they are ready to study or train in English. Anglia Ruskin University is one of the largest IELTS testing centres in the UK offering around 5000 test places over 38 test dates per year.

Routes into Languages

Routes into Languages is an initiative to increase and widen participation in language study in upper secondary and higher education. The Eastern Region consortium is led by Anglia Ruskin University in partnership with the University of Cambridge, The Open University and the University of Bedfordshire.
