Michelle qualified as a solicitor in 1997 via the route offered by the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX). She worked at a City firm specialising in insurance recovery cases, policy disputes on behalf of insurers, and general commercial litigation, including property related litigation.

After qualification, Michelle obtained an LLM in EC Law at the University of Essex, before commencing a post teaching on the LPC at Anglia Ruskin University. She joined the LPC at the City Law School, London (formerly the Inns of Court School of Law) in 2005, before returning to Anglia Ruskin's LPC in September 2008.

Michelle is subject leader for Property Law & Practice, and also teaches Accounts, Practical Legal Research and Commercial Litigation. She is the pathway leader for the LLM Legal Practice.

Michelle has also been a tutor to the "Certificate in Land Registration", a qualification set up by joint venture between ILEX Tutorial College and HM Land Registry, training land registry staff.
