Louise is a solicitor and was in practice as a Partner until 2002, specialising in Judicial Review mainly in areas of publicly funded social welfare law. She left practice in March 2002 to join the academic staff at the Inns of Court School of Law at City University where she taught on the Bar Vocational Course and the Legal Practice Course.

In September 2007, Louise moved to the Law School at Anglia Ruskin University, teaching on both the undergraduate degree and the Legal Practice Course as a Senior Lecturer.

Louise has written and taught on a wide range of subjects including Litigation, Advocacy and other practical legal skills, Wills and Administration of Estates, Family Law, Commercial Litigation, Clinical and Professional Negligence, Private Client and Professional Conduct.

Her particular academic interests lie in the Provision of Community Legal Services, Civil and Criminal Procedure, Human Rights, Legal Ethics and Social Welfare Law. She has a special interest in the teaching and development of professional legal skills.
Louise was the Director of the Legal Practice Course from 2008 from 2012.

Her external activities include external examiner for the LPC at Cardiff University and Nottingham Law School and for the LLM in Advocacy at the University of Strathclyde. She is also an SRA Validation Panel Member, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
