Law Professor wins award for 'Outstanding Paper'

Professor Rob Home
We are delighted to announce that Professor Rob Home's article 'Forced eviction and planning enforcement: the Dale Farm Gypsies' has been chosen as an Outstanding Paper Award Winner at the Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2013.

Every year, Emerald invites the Editorial Team on each of their journals to nominate what they believe has been that title's Outstanding Paper, along with three Highly Commended Papers, from the previous year. The winning papers are chosen following consultation amongst the Editorial Team, many of whom are eminent academics or practitioners. The decision is made according to 6 criteria:

  • internationality
  • diversity
  • support for scholarly research
  • encouragement of applied research (impact)
  • commitment to high quality scholarship
  • a desire to ensure reader, author and customer experience is the best it can be.

Rob's article, published in International Journal of Law in the Built Environment, was described as 'one of the most impressive pieces of work the team has seen throughout 2012'.

In 2011, Rob's expertise in researching the accommodation needs and planning policy of travellers involved him in providing evidence to a Parliamentary Select Committee and being interviewed for a BBC Look East documentary at Dale Farm. Since the high-profile eviction in October of that year, Rob has continued his research, giving media interviews, presenting papers and writing articles as well as continuing to advise local authorities.

The full award winners will be published shortly on the Emerald Insight website, with Rob's full article being made available to read.
