Law lecturers Penny English, Tom Serby and Andrew Gilbert of Anglia Law School attended the recent HEA UK Centre for Legal Education-sponsored Learning in Law Annual Conference at Warwick University.

Tom and Penny both currently hold University Learning and Teaching Fellowships, and gave poster presentations outlining the fellowship projects they are engaged in.

Tom Serby presented on the Law School's innovative Legal Practice Course 'Transactional Learning Project,' a radical new approach to teaching probate law which has moved away from the traditional lecture style of teaching to 'students learning by doing.' In the project students participate in an online transaction during which they receive instructions, engage in research and give legal advice by working in small teams of virtual law firms.

Penny English is developing a series of reusable learning objects which will help students to master referencing with OSCOLA. Students often have difficulty getting to grips with the technical requirements of this system of referencing, which is used in law. The first pilots were available for conference delegates to view alongside the poster. When complete, this will form a lasting resource for students.
