Dr Natalie Mann joined Anglia Ruskin University in January 2011, having worked as a Teaching Fellow in the Sociology Department at the University of Essex. She completed her PhD in Criminology at the University of Essex in 2008. It was entitled Doing Harder Time? The Experiences of an Ageing Male Prison Population in England and Wales and was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. The research investigated the ways in which ageing men experience imprisonment, how they cope and the unique problems they experience. It is informed by strong structuration theory and Goffman's interactionism.
