Liz joined Anglia Ruskin University in 1999 after completing her PhD at the University of Cambridge. Since joining the Sociology Department she has taken a leading role in ensuring that it not only produces high quality research but also sustains a vibrant and successful programme of undergraduate teaching. Sociology at Anglia Ruskin, Cambridge is ranked 16th out of 86 in the most recent Guardian University League table (2012).

Liz's teaching expertise includes classical and modern sociological theory; the sociology and politics of gender and psychosocial studies. Her research interests include the theory and politics of gender relations and the sociology of the early Frankfurt School.

Liz contributed to the 2002 edition the text book Introductory Sociology by T Bilton et al, (Palgrave: Macmillan) and co-authored, along with Pip Jones and Shaun Le Boutillier, the 2nd edition of Introducing Social Theory, to be published by Polity in June 2011.
