At the start of September, Dr Jonathan Davis, Principal Lecturer in History, gave a talk about people's journeys through revolutionary Russia in aid of St. Edmund's Church in Hauxton.

As part of the Russian evening at Hauxton village hall, where vodka and kvas were drunk and Russian food enjoyed, Jon spoke to an audience of 50 people about what British visitors saw when they went to the USSR in the inter-war years. Relatives of the Soviet physicist Pyotr Kapitsa (who worked at Cambridge in the 1920s and 1930s) introduced the evening which, as well as being a lot of fun, raised £470 for the church.
