Alicia is Senior Lecturer in Spanish and Applied Linguistics at Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge, UK). She coordinates the teaching of Spanish and has a leading role in the running of Anglia Ruskin University Language Centre. She is also responsible for the the DELE Exams (Instituto Cervantes) and the teaching of Spanish online (AVE). She has dedicated part of her academic career to teacher training and materials development. She has written Spanish teaching materials for the Open University as well and has published various articles on aspects of second language acquisition, including vocabulary learning at different levels, the impact of study abroad on language development and the use of language learning strategies.

Alicia's research interests are second language acquisition and learning, with a particular focus on vocabulary. She is currently studying the the acquisition and development of narrative competence within a cognitive framework.
