Upcoming Research Activity from Film-Maker Staff
In late 2008, two of our film-maker staff will be involved in a variety of prestigious events to showcase their creative research activities:
- In September Simon Payne's video 'New Ratio' will be showing at Abstracta, an international festival of abstract cinema held in Rome.
- On October 10th, both Simon Payne and Jennifer Nightingale will be showing some of their work at the Serpentine Gallery in London. This is part of a programme of experimental films and videos entitled 'Aleatory Colour' curated by Peter Gidal, which coincides with the exhibition Gerhard Richter: 4900 Colours.
- In mid-November, Simon Payne will be introducing two programmes of artists' film and videos, which he has curated, at Tate Modern. These works will span the history of avant-garde film and video art, exploring the ways in which the aesthetics of 'colour fields,' (associated with abstract painters including Mark Rothko), have also been used in the time-based media of film and video.
- In December, Simon Payne will be showing a number of his video works at Westminster University's P3 Gallery, in an exhibition that brings together numerous practioners who have completed practice-based PhDs in film and video.
