Reader to speak at forthcoming biodigitality conference
Dr Jussi Parikka, Reader in Media Theory and History, is giving an invited paper at the forthcoming Biodigital Lives conference at Sussex University on 14 July. The conference focuses on 'making, consuming and archiving the lives of technoscience' and gathers a number of key theorists working in this interdisciplinary field. Parikka's talk is titled "Cuddling With the Biodigital: Lynn Hershman's Teknolust and Embodied Non-Human Agencies" and focuses on the modulations of biodigitality and the definition of life in science fiction.
Parikka has just finished a new book, Insect Media, which is forthcoming from University of Minnesota Press in 2010. The co-edited collection The Spam Book is coming out in June 2009. He is also editing an anthology on Media Archaeology (University of California Press) and a journal special issue for Fibreculture on Media Ecologies.
