On Wednesday 14 March 2012, the Film Studies pathway hosted its first Alumni Event. Six alumni, who graduated from the Film Studies course between 2008-2011, returned to talk to current students from the course about their experience after graduation. Each graduate screened samples of their work, spoke about how they made it into their respective career paths, answered questions and offered advice and encouragement to current students.

Our almuni at the event included:

  • Tom Quinn, from the Institute of Engineering and Technology, who streamed live media and made educational videos about top-secret scientific experiments involving nuclear fusion and unmanned blimps
  • Deniz Johns, who is now completing an MA in Communication Art and Design at the Royal College of Art. One of her film-performance works is currently on show in the Edgware Road Project exhibition at the prestigious Serpentine Gallery in London
  • Dan Doddington, who has worked in the Special Effects Unit on Ridley Scott's eagerly awaited 'Prometheus', as well as a forthcoming John Cusack film
  • Lee Keable, an independent filmmaker who has made a number of films including commissioned documentaries and shorts, and is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Directing at Bournemouth University
  • Alex Oliver, a freelance camerawoman, editor and producer who has worked on a range of projects for corporate clients, music clubs, pop bands and the Arsenal football team
  • Andrew Cloke, who works as an online & grading assistant at ENVY, a post-production company in Soho, specializing in fine-tuning television programmes for broadcast

You can read more about some of their work and experiences on our 'What our students do' pages.

Many thanks to all of our graduates and current students for making the day so rewarding and inspiring!
