Further success for Creative Writing
Penny Hancock
Kaddy Benyon
Guin Glasford Brown
A number of our Creative Writing graduates have been in touch recently to tell us about their successes. Here is a brief round up of their current projects and achievements:
- Kaddy Benyon has won the Crashaw Prize for Poetry 2011 for her collection 'Milk Fever', and has also been chosen as one of two Granta New Poets. Her work was selected by Gillian Clarke, and is going to be featured alongside Lavinia Greenlaw, Tomas Transtromer and John Burnside. You can follow Kaddy on Twitter at @KaddyBenyon.
- Penny Hancock's book Tideline has been extensively well reviewed in various publications including Marie Claire, The Sun and The Daily Mail. There was also a very positive mention for the book in The Guardian crime round-up.
- Elaine Bishop and Guin Glasfurd Brown have both received a prestigious Escalator Award. This year saw the highest number of applicants that the prize has so far received, and the organizers said the standard was the highest too, so this is a fantastic achievement. You can read more about the prize, and sample Guin and Elaine's work on the Writer's Centre Norwich website. One of our BA (Hons) Writing and Drama graduates, Simon Coard, was also highly commended.
- Third year BA (Hons) Writing student Michelle Foster was recently shortlisted for the popular Mslexia Short Story Competition 2012.
We wish continued success to all our graduates and hope to be able to report more of their achievements in the near future.
