Esme Chapman
Congratulations to Esme Chapman, who has won this year's prize from Cambridge University Press for the best major project submitted on the MA Publishing course.

Esme wins £100 worth of book tokens for her project entitled 'The Art of Books', which challenged the boundaries between art and books, and her theoretical critique of where the two fields meet.

Esme told us: "The task of beginning the major project was quite daunting, so I wanted to make sure I chose a topic I was really interested in and that would give me the freedom to do both a written piece and a practical project. My topic allowed me to use these different approaches in a very creative way, and to work in a variety of media.

"My favourite part of the major project came when I started the practical component. I was able to explore my ideas in a very physical way and produced a wooden book sculpture, a handmade book and a fluxus inspired artist's book which I considered to represent the shifting boundaries between books, books as art and art.

"I was delighted not only with my grade but also having been awarded the generous CUP Prize. Receiving this prize is a representation of the wider support that CUP has kindly provided to the MA Publishing course, helping the lectures we receive to remain cutting edge and industry standard. Their contribution really makes a big difference and I will certainly enjoy spending my book vouchers over Christmas!"
