My MA dissertation Historical Reference and Revival in Twentieth Century Type Design is to be published in book form by Mark Batty Publications/MBP Academic, New York, in late 2009.

The Complete Typographer
Publication dates and contracts have now been confirmed for a new and substantially revised edition of my book The Complete Typographer, to be published in the US by Prentice Hall (UK publisher TBC).

My paper Typographic Literacies has been selected for publication by Multi, The RIT Journal of Diversity and Plurality in Design, an online peer-reviewed, open access journal housed at Rochester Institute of Technology.

I am completing an essay on dual serif-sans typeface family for Parenthesis, the journal of the Fine Press Book Association, to be published in summer 2009.

Ulltrabold
A major illustrated feature on my recent print series City of Letters (see 2a) forms the main focus of the summer 2009 issue of Ultrabold: The journal of the St Bride Printing Library.

I have been asked by the Polish design journal 2+3D to write a feature based around an interview with the noted type designer Jeremy Tankard.

Symposia/conference series

Beyond the Margins
I am organising a programme of symposia on experimental typographics, comprising an inaugural event in Cambridge in September 2009 to be followed by a further symposium at London College of Communication, University of the Arts in April 2010. Subject to the success of a pending AHRC bid (see 4 above) this is to be followed by events in Ireland, Poland and the USA, culminating in a major three-day conference in Cambridge in 2011. This is a collaborative project with Dr Ian Horton of London College of Communication.
