Congratulations to 5 of our BA (Hons) Computer Games Art students, who have been offered internships with game developers Mastertronic following a recent in-class project.

Reyshand Luximon, Owen Westfield-Bell, Gavin Brand, Cally Skinns and Arthur Dukes were selected to provide modelling work for the company after impressing in the project, which gave them 2 weeks to develop a model for one of Mastertronic's forthcoming products. The students will now recreate their models in 3DMax for the final build, receiving a mention in the credits as well as gaining vital experience of the industry.

Richard Slater, Digital Development Manager of the Mastertronic Group, told us:

"We are delighted to be able to offer several internships to students from Anglia Ruskin. The quality of work these students were able to deliver for the industry project set to them in February was very impressive. That these students are only part-way through the first year of their course and were able to deliver work of such a high standard leaves me in no doubt they all have the ability to forge very successful careers in the computer games industry.

"During their time with the Mastertronic Group, in addition to building upon the work they have already started, they will be creating bigger and more complex assets for use in further products under the guidance of our experienced modellers and programmers. We look forward to welcoming them."

This marks another step in the ongoing partnership between Mastertronic and Anglia Ruskin, which began almost 2 years ago when Kevin Moore (Manager, Mastertronic Group) contacted Creative Front Cambridgeshire with a view to developing student work experience projects.

BA(Hons) Computer Games Art.Course Leader Julian Hughes-Watts said of the placements:
"Our 1st year Computer Games Art students were highly focused and energetic in their response to the 2-week industry challenge set by Mastertronic. The placements and training will be a tremendous boost for them at this stage in their education. Mastertronic have been committed to help develop students' knowledge of the industry and have further links with the course such as work with second year student Reece Fairhead and the employment of recent graduate Mark Griffiths."
