CSA alumna runner-up in Folio Society Awards
Sidsel Sørensen, who graduated from our BA (Hons) Illustration course in 2009, was thrilled to be announced as runner up in the highly prestigious Folio Society Awards in July 2012.
Over 500 illustrators entered the competition to win a £4,000 commission to illustrate The Folio Society's new edition of The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by Angela Carter, a collection of darkly sensual, subversive takes on traditional fairy stories. The finished book was unveiled at the awards ceremony at Collyer Bristow Gallery & will be published this August. The judging panel included well known illustrator Angela Barrett, last year's winner Matthew Richardson and writer Marina Warner.
Based in Copenhagen, Sidsel is currently studying for an MA in Visual Communication at Kolding School of Design, Denmark and working as a freelance illustrator. Her designs combine hand drawn and digital techniques, and incorporate texture and pattern to create playful images.
She told us: "I was so excited to be shortlisted and part of the great event. All of the entries were really interesting and unique, and it was great to see the faces behind the different designs."
Further information and illustrations can be found on Sidsel's blogspot.
