Illustration student sprays his way to success
Cambridge School of Art student Shaun Lee has won Channel 4's national Street Summer Art competition, beating hundreds of competitors and landing an unexpected contract in the process.
The competition, part of Channel 4's celebration of British street culture, was filmed in front of a group of spectators, one of whom was so impressed by Shaun's work he handed him an on-the-spot offer to illustrate a new children's picturebook.
Shaun, who had never before received a commission, said that he only entered the competition after an email sent out by the School's administrator had 'caught his eye'. He told us: "I'm so excited about winning. The best part is that I get to have real work experience with the famous street artist SER, who will be helping and teaching me to spray paint my piece at Village Underground in Holywell Lane, London."
Footage of Shaun creating his winning entry can be found on the Don't Panic website.
