Spitting Image Creator returns to Cambridge School of Art
Roger Law, creator of Spitting Image, revisited the scene of his artistic youth when he returned to Cambridge School of Art with his wife Deidre in December 2009. Roger and Deidre were at Cambridge School of Art together in the 1960s and have been together ever since perhaps - thanks in some part to the then Dean, who insisted that as they were co-habiting they had to get married or leave!
Some aspects of the school may have changed since then, but Roger found many areas of the old Ruskin Building still remained the same. He was even reunited with an old acquaintance: a puppet of Colonel Gaddafi, which he'd gifted to Cambridge School of Art.
Roger was being filmed at the School for an Australian documentary about his life and works. After the end of the award wining series of Spitting Image (which ran for 12 years) Roger left England for Australia and other artistic interests.
He now splits his time between Australia and Jingdezhen, China, where he has established himself as a ceramics master craftsman, even in the city know as China's 'porcelain city' where they have been mastering the art for over two thousand years.
