Cambridge School of Art Graduate achieves another first

Paula Metcalf on the cover of Artists and Illustrators magazine
Paula Metcalf's career has gone from strength to strength since graduating from Anglia Ruskin University with a first in French and Illustration and then, in 2004, an MA in Children's Book Illustration. Whilst still a student she entered the MacMillian Children's Book Competition which led to a three book deal. Now on her seventh book, Paula is coming to the end of her residency at the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Buckinghamshire where she has the cachet of being the first ever artist-in-residence.

As an accolade to her accomplishment, 'Artists and Illustrators' magazine have chosen Paula to feature in their May edition. The magazine, which has about 45,000 readers worldwide, chose Paula because of her success at a relatively young age describing her as "a great inspiration" for their readerships of professional and semi-professional artists.

Paula's success is an undoubtedly a product of impressive talent and singular imagination but it is also founded on hard work and realism. She recognises the contribution her academic background has made to her career and particularly the influence of her tutor Martin Salisbury, whose support and inspiration she acknowledges on her website.
