MA Children's Book Illustration graduate signs for Walker Books
Birgitta Sif, one of the stars of this year's MA Children's Book Illustration graduation exhibition at Foyles Bookshop in London, is to sign a two-book deal with top children's publisher Walker Books. Birgitta was offered multiple book deals by several other publishers but, after much thought, chose Walker Books because of their reputation for the highest quality design and illustration.
Birgitta's picturebook Oliver is an enchanting tale of a boy who has trouble making friends. This and initially one other book will be published in the coming months. Birgitta will also be illustrating at least one text for Egmont Publishing, whose annual Egmont Award for most promising graduate was this year shared by Birgitta with fellow student Marta Altés.
Marta is also close to signing a major publishing deal with one of two publishers with whom she is in talks at the moment. Her first picturebook No!, which was created earlier on in the MA programme, was signed by the publishers Childs Play and is currently in production.
