Illustration graduates exhibit at New Designers 2009
During the Summer this year's Illustration graduates headed to London with their degree show for the annual New Designers Exhibition in Islington.
Now in its 24th year, and with over 18,000 visitors, this is Europe's largest exhibition of new and emerging graduate talent across all design disciplines. Cambridge School of Art was represented by students from both the Illustration BA and, for the first time, the Illustration and Animation BA.
Those of you who saw this year's very strong show in Cambridge will not be surprised by the excellent feedback the students met with. Angus Grieig received his first commission on the spot, Mel Castrillon and Jana Diemberger were picked out by the trade journal 'Creative Review' for special mention and other students were approached by Lego, for character development, and the international publisher Harper Collins.
This four day exhibition provides a great platform for students and staff to show the calibre of work that is produced on the course to a wider, international and industry focused audience and, though financed almost entirely by the students themselves, it is an invaluable opportunity to make professional contact and raise their profiles as they launch their freelance careers.
We wish this years graduates all the best after their hard work and look forward to hearing about any further commissions that result from the show.
