Animation course accreditation partnership with India's Frameboxx
This summer, a team of academics from the Cambridge School of Art visited India after agreeing a new partnership initiative with Frameboxx, an animation and visual effects training company that is supplying technical experts to handle an Indian animation industry, predicted to be worth $1.5B US by 2010.
After launching last December, Frameboxx already has 40 training centres throughout India. They offer a number of courses featuring skill-set specialisations to suit the needs of this fast-growing industry, that anticipates requiring 300,000 trained animators by the end of 2008.
Speaking about the new link to accredit the Redboxx 2 course offered by Frameboxx, Caroline Hyde, our Business Development manager for Cultural and Creative Industries, said "Our accreditation of this programme, which we hope will be the first of many, provides a seal of approval for Frameboxx's programmes and will give future employers the quality assurances they demand. After a successful evaluation of course materials, student support, assessments and teaching staff, we have agreed to accredit the core programmes available, starting with Redboxx 2."
The team, which included Chris Joyce and Jim Butler, senior members of Cambridge School of Art, toured India visiting Frameboxx facilities across the country.
