What our students say

Teng Guan Khoo, Malaysia

LLB (Hons) Law and Legal Practice Course

"I have received tremendous help and support from the Law School and the University. It is not simply about receiving a University education, it is about being part of a closely-knit and supportive community. This is particularly important for an international student."

Deniz Johns, Turkey

BA (Hons) Film Studies

"In these last three years, I have become immersed in so many creative activities that have helped me to grow personally and professionally. I have worked for the Cambridge Film Festival, I co-produced a short film, one of my video works was screened in an international film festival, another one was also screened at Arts Picture House in a special woman filmmaker's screening. In addition, I was awarded a grant by Anglia Ruskin University to participate in a unique silent film festival in Italy, Le Giornate Del Cinema Mut.

The BA Film Studies programme gave me everything I needed academically and in terms of courage, morale and support. The lecturers were all eager to see me develop my talents to the full and for this I will always be hugely grateful."

Israa Hakeem, Saudi Arabia

"Through the short period of time I have attended Anglia Ruskin University Language Centre I have improved my English language and gained the knowledge and confidence I need to pursue my life as a Master student at the University. All this was given in an amazing environment and with great faculty support."

Dwarka Nayak, India

PhD Social Science

"I chose to join the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Anglia Ruskin University because of its innovative vision and mission and expertise in labour history, migration, and social justice. I moved to Cambridge in September 2010 and since have been learning much about the working lives of the 'precariat' in the UK and also about the latest research methods.

Anglia Ruskin University has exceeded my expectations in the opportunities it offers to improve students' knowledge and research skills. Academic staff are understanding of students' particular needs. They are friendly and happy to help. The university has rich collection of academic of both electronic and paper resources. Really I would like to suggest Anglia Ruskin University as a good destination for International students."

Kazuno Kohara, Japan

MA Children's Book Illustration and MA Printmaking

"There was warm support and encouragement from the tutors and classmates. We had a crit every week, where we gathered and presented our week's progress and ideas for the project, and criticised each other's work, which was very inspiring.

Lectures were always interesting. Authors and illustrators were invited, as well as editors from publishers, which helped me to understand their relationship and how things work in the field of children's book. A series of joint lectures with Homerton College, Cambridge University gave me an opportunity to look into children's books from a different aspect. My first book, published in 2008, was based on one of the books I created for the master's project."

Ingrid Endresen Thorseth, Norway

BA (Hons) Media Studies

"I decided to apply for a bachelor in Media studies at Anglia Ruskin University after reading about what I though would be a very interesting and relevant course. Today I am convinced that I made the right decision two years ago. I have truly enjoyed most of the modules, and I feel that many of them are highly relevant for what I want to do when I finish my degree. When I have needed assistance the teachers have been very helpful. Overall I am very pleased with my first two years doing media studies at Anglia Ruskin University, and I'm certain that I am going to miss the university and the town after I graduate next year."

Nisar Ahemad A. Momin, India

Master of Fine Art

"The course provided me a very close view of the world's capital in art. It is a very great opportunity to learn and adopt British contemporary art practice. Cambridge School of Art covers all postmodern aspects of fine art institutional practice. Teaching at Anglia Ruskin is like mother care in nurturing creative abilities and skills of individual students. "

Burcu Simsek Benderli, Turkey

MA Applied Linguistics and TESOL

"To be accepted by two conferences as a speaker was not something I expected before I started this course. When I look back at my studies in the last two years, what I clearly see is that I would not be able to come to this point without the knowledge the course has given me and without my supervisor's help and feedback. Choosing this course was one of the best decisions I took for my career.

Because the staff were so competent in their field I did not have any limitations or rejections for the topics I chose to work on, and with each assignment I was fed with the guidance and information I needed from my course leader throughout the writing process."

Maybelle Wei, New Zealand

MA Music Therapy

"Undertaking the music therapy training course at Anglia Ruskin has been both a challenging and enriching experience. The course content is brilliant, covering both practical and theoretical aspects of study to prepare students for the role of a music therapist. The tutors are well-published and highly respected in the field of music therapy and health sciences. Together they bring an incredible wealth of experiences from their various settings of work, and students are provided with a nurturing and supportive network from the teaching staff as lecturers, tutors, and supervisors. The music therapy clinic is well-resourced with two music therapy rooms (where teaching is often held), recording equipment, and a resource room. This course has brought music therapy to life for me, and I leave Anglia Ruskin greatly inspired and grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this excellent programme."

Bernice Chu, Canada

MA Music Therapy

"The music therapy program at Anglia Ruskin has truly been an unforgettable experience. I would strongly recommend this course to a prospective student who is not only looking for a music-centered and psychoanalytic approach, but also one that inspires and nurtures an adaptable and skillful way of working as a music therapist. Anglia Ruskin has definitely provided me with the education and high-quality experience that I will take with me in my future endeavours as a music therapist."

Maryam Khalid A Almubarak, Saudi Arabia

"I can confidently say that MA printmaking extremely encouraged my creativity. All different equipment is available in the printmaking studio to assist students in innovation and inspiration. In the studio, we have learnt how to use this equipment with the different techniques in a very effective manner. The tutors were extremely supportive and cooperative in making this learning experience an invaluable one."
