Dr Robin Gowers is a senior lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University. After gaining his PhD in economics from the University of Essex he worked for four years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, based in the City of London. His time there included work with their Strategic Risk Services group whom helped senior executives identify, understand, assess and manage the business risks they faced across their whole enterprise. His roles within this Group included direct consulting work on a wide range of client engagements, applying economic theory in solving strategic risk problems, constructing economic models in relation to the services on offer and developing academic partnerships.

He also worked within their Global Risk Management Solutions and Audit and Business Advisory Services in their Financial Services E-business Groups. These groups were set up in 1999 to focus on meeting the fast growing e-business needs of PwC's financial services clients. Whilst in this position he developed an in depth knowledge of how e-business was changing the financial services sector and other industries. The majority of work was based around London, but he undertook a number of client engagements in the UK and across Europe.
