Dr Phillipa Towlson is the Lord Ashcroft International Business School (LAIBS) Head of Operations and Administration. Phillipa completed an MPhil and PhD in microbiology and her early career at the Department of Health and the Wellcome Trust focused on project management and public policy delivery. Having completed an MBA she took up the role of Head of Project Management at a Cambridge based public policy think tank, tasked with improving internal systems and processes and developing and delivering an effective quality management system (ISO 9001:2000).
She completed her professional qualifications with the Chartered Management Institute in 2008, gained her Chartered Manager status and in 2009 was awarded the Chartered Manager of the Year (Eastern Region). She was re-accredited as a Chartered Manager in 2011.
Having joined Anglia Ruskin University and LAIBS in 2009 as Faculty Manager, Phillipa was then promoted to Head of the Operations and Administration Department. Phillipa has responsibility for all the non-academic functions within the Faculty, including student and research administration, student placement and experience, marketing and operations. She seeks to deliver internal processes and support systems that not only drive efficiencies but also provide the solid foundation on which the academic delivery can rely, thereby supporting an ever improving student experience. Phillipa is an active member of the Association of Business Schools and the Faculty Customer Service Excellence Champion.
