Maria joined the Lord Ashcroft International Business School in January 2012. She teaches Strategic Management and she is the ERASMUS/Study Abroad Departmental Co-ordinator. Her research focuses on the resource-based view of the firm, small business strategy and mixed research methodology.

Prior to her appointment, Maria was a Research Associate at the Centre for Internationalisation and Enterprise Research, University of Glasgow. She also completed her doctoral studies at the University of Glasgow in 2010. Her PhD project, entitled 'Domestic and International Performance of UK SMEs: Resources and Market Learning Effects', had been awarded a University Scholarship from the Faculty of Law, Business and Social Sciences. In addition, Maria holds an MSc Degree in International Business and Management (Manchester Business School, University of Manchester) and a BSc (Ptyhion) in Digital Systems (University of Piraeus, Greece). She is an active member of the AIB network (Academy of International Business - UK and Ireland Chapter) and she has been involved in the organisation of two AIB conferences.
