Leigh has more than 12 years experience of leading and managing applied research projects related to understanding and supporting enterprise development and entrepreneurship. Leigh has an in-depth understanding of the small business and enterprise development policy community through working with a range of clients at a European (e.g. Directorate General Enterprise), national (Small Business Service, Patent Office), regional (e.g. RDAs) and local level.

He has experience in undertaking a range of applied projects including strategy reviews, mapping of business processes, audits and reviews of provision and needs analyses. This activity is complemented through supporting professional development of business support professionals and contributing to enterprise education offerings in HEIs at undergraduate and post-graduate level.

Leigh is Director and Board Member of the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (a UK small business research body), a member of the Executive Committee of the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Small Business Network at the European Foundation of Management Development and Chair of the Lead Body for the Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative (SFEDI). He also still actively publishes within the area, often working with clients to assist in the dissemination of project outcomes.
