Jonathan is Deputy Head of Department of Economics, Strategy, Marketing and Enterprise and Principal Lecturer in Marketing at the Lord Ashcroft International Business School, based in Cambridge. Prior to joining Anglia Ruskin in 2001, he was Marketing Manager and lectured in Marketing at a private College in the City of London. He has taught a wide range of marketing based subjects at all levels. This includes employees from leading multinational companies, such as: British Airways, Sinopec, Bosch, Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, Barclays and Mars.
Jonathan completed his PhD (Middlesex) in 2006. The basis of his research was analysing inter-partner relationships and performance in Western-Chinese joint ventures. Although he maintains his initial research interests, he now also concentrates on the internationalisation of Chinese brands, Chinese cultural values, educational attainment in higher education and business research. In relation to the latter, he is the author of 'Essentials of Business Research: A Guide to Doing Your Research Project', published by Sage Publications. The second edition of this title is due for publication in 2013.
He has taught on a number of units associated with The Chartered Institute of Marketing professional qualifications, holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and is Fellow (FCIM) of The Institute. Jonathan teaches on three undergraduate modules: International Marketing, Chinese Economy: Issues and Policies, and Business-to-Business Marketing, plus one postgraduate module: International Marketing. He is currently involved in supervising four PhD students and is External Examiner at The University of Huddersfield and Bournemouth University.
