John is a tax and public service specialist with a particular research interest in Taxation Paradigms and their impact upon tax polices. Within the context of his research John has presented papers at a number of international conferences and is an editor of the Journal of Finance and Management in Public Services. In June 2009 John organised his 9th research conference focusing upon public service management.
John has been lecturing for over twenty years and has held a range of management posts from CIPFA course leader, Postgraduate Field Leader, Professional Programmes Leader to his current posts of Director of Studies. He teaches across the range of Anglia Ruskin courses, undergraduate, postgraduate and professional and has recently begun doctoral supervision.

In recent years John has been an examiner and moderator for CIPFA and has acted as an advisor to CIPFA on their syllabus review. Currently John is an ACCA assessor and CIPFA IPDS examiner. Over the last 18 years John has been an executive member of ACIPFAL, a member of CIPFA regional council and was invited to CIPFA membership for his services to public service finance.
Outside of work John splits his time between growing vegetables, watching Ipswich Town and amateur genealogy.
