Hermann is a Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University where he teaches at the Lord Ashcroft International Business School in a range of subjects, including Operations and Project Management, and Management Theory into Practice, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He also supervises dissertations and is a member of the Faculty Research Degree Sub Committee.
He has a PhD degree from University of Bradford where he was also awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Research Methods. He began his academic education as an undergraduate at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Deusto (Bilbao/Spain) where he studied Political and Legal Sciences. His Master of Arts (MA in Management and Business Administration) was awarded jointly by the three universities of Deusto (Spain), AUDENCIA in Nantes (France) and Bradford University School of Management.
His professional background is consultancy, the software and telecommunications industries, and banking, where he worked for more than ten years in various management positions. He was exposed to all facets of general management and project management for clients from within both the public and private sectors, i.e. small and medium-sized enterprises as well as international firms. He is a qualified coach and has worked with managers in executive education, consulting and talent development programmes in several European countries.
His research interests include strategic decision-making processes and the use of information systems, project management and organizational development. Currently he is working on several projects around the themes of the conceptualization of performance, decision making in virtual environments, business intelligence and related research methods.
