Emanuele Giovannetti, BA (Rome), MPhil & PhD, (Cantab), FHEA is a Professor in Economics at the Institute for International Management Practice, Anglia Ruskin University and Associate Professor in Economics at Verona University.

Emanuele's research focuses on competition policy in network industries, on the Internet sector, on adoption of new technologies and on regional economic asymmetries.

Emanuele published many academic articles on international economic journals including (ABS ranking): Economic Journal (4*), Environment and Planning A (4*), International Economic Review (4*), International Journal of Industrial Organization (4* in 2009), Journal of Industrial Economics (3*), Journal of Economic Surveys (2*), Telecommunications Policy (2*). Emanuele co-edited three academic books: "Agglomeration and New Technologies: a Global Perspective". BeforejJoining Anglia Ruskin University Emanuele was Economic Advisor, for the Chief Economist Office at the Office of Fair Trading (2008-2011), London, drafting the UK contribution to the debate on the revision of the EU vertical agreement block exemption regulation. His experience in Competition policy matured while he was Associate Professor in Economics, University of Cape Town, (2006-2007) where he also served as Chief Expert Economic witness for the South African Competition Commission, in the Telkom-BCX merger case. Before this experience Emanuele worked for more than seven years at the University of Cambridge starting as a Post-doctoral Research Fellows at the Center for Communications Systems Research. When he left, in 2006, he was Senior Research Associate, at the Faculty of Economics, of the University of Cambridge as Project Coordinator of the EU-IST FP7 CoCombine project on the Economics of the Internet. Emanuele was also Senior Research Fellow, for ten years at University of Rome "La Sapienza", New Scholar in the CEPR Program in Industrial Organization, Teaching By-Fellow in Economics at Churchill College and Lector in Economics, Trinity College, University of Cambridge.

Emanuele gained a PhD in Economics from Trinity College, University of Cambridge (1997), a Doctoral Degree at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (1994) and an MPhil in Economics, from the University of Cambridge (1991). His doctoral work was in the area of Spatial Economics, Technology adoption and Industrial Organisation.
