Beatriz Acevedo is a Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Management at Lord Ashcroft International Business School, Anglia Ruskin University and she is fellow of the Higher Education Academy. At Lord Ashcroft International Business School, she teaches at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels, and she is the module leader for 'International Environmental Management and Sustainability', 'International Intercultural Management' and 'Managing Across Cultures'. Beatriz is passionate about education for sustainable development and currently she is the director of the GoGreen Pilot' 12, a project co-funded by the Higher Education Academy in collaboration with the National Union of Students and the University of Bristol. This project aims at enhancing employment opportunities for undergraduate students while contributing to promote environmental practices in organisations. Beatriz has been collaborating with the Anglia Ruskin Sustainability committee and the Global Sustainability Institute. She joined the university in 2008 and during her career at Anglia Ruskin she has received some important awards - The VC Inspire Award with her GoGreen team (2011); the Early Career Researcher Award in 2012 and the University Teaching Fellowship in 2012.
Beatriz received a PhD in Management from the University of Hull (UK). She also holds a Masters on Sociology (Universidad Nacional de Colombia); a MBA with emphasis in gender by the International Training Centre for Women in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and a bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering (Universidad de los Andes, Bogota, Colombia). Beatriz has been committed with education for the last twenty years and she is passionate about students' engagement and action learning. Beatriz has developed innovative methodologies for teaching, using art-based techniques and critical approaches to education. In addition, she has extensive experience in academic consultancy at the national, international and regional level in developing a number of projects in social policy; leadership, public policy evaluation and monitoring, sustainable development, women entrepreneurship, sustainability, environmental practices and the use of systems thinking methodologies for policy making processes. She has coordinated and participated in projects funded by the World Bank, the Interamerican Development Bank, the European Social Fund and other international funding bodies.
Beatriz is also an artist and her research interests concern the intersection between aesthetics, arts, visual research methodologies in relation to education for sustainable development. Currently she is co-editing a Special Issue on Vision for the Journal Culture and Organization, and a Special Issue on Arts and Management for the International Journal of Management Practice. She also is member of the Standing Conference for Organizational Symbolism, the British Academy of Management and the European Association of Universities and Colleges for Sustainability.
