Dr Ying Xie

Ying is a leading researcher in operations management, with a special interest in applying operations research techniques to logistics and supply chain management. She has an outstanding research record in these fields and has published 12 refereed papers and book chapters in distinguished business/scientific journals and books, including International Journal of Production Economics, European Journal of Operational Research, and Supply Chain Management: an International Journal.

Ying has developed an advanced consultancy practice that assists SMEs to achieve sustainability, through which she generated £60,000 in research income in 2011. In addition, Ying was awarded two internal Research and Enterprise Investment Programme funds to the value of £20,000 in 2010 and £7,000 in 2011.

Ying is also a primary supervisor for three PhD students, one of whom is expected to complete in 2013. Ying teaches in the areas of operations management, supply chain management and marketing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
