Working in partnership with Barclays

The Lord Ashcroft Business School offers an innovative three year work-based BA (Hons) Management & Leadership, which it delivers in partnership with Barclays Retail Banking. Students are employed by Barclays Retail Banking and sponsored through all three years of the degree, which forms part of Barclays' innovative Retail Development Programme. Aligning the degree to the Retail Development Programme ensures that both individual and organisational needs are met. Students benefit from a mixture of face-to-face contact via residential study blocks, access to online learning materials and tutor contact and two mentors, one from the Business School and one from Barclays.

It is about getting the right people with the right skills, understanding and attitudes for our business. Individuals are employed from day one, get to know our business and customers better and align their development to their role and career with us.

The Lord Ashcroft International Business School offers this option to other organisations as an alternative way to recruit and develop talented A-level (or equivalent) students who want to further their education but don't want to follow the traditional full-time university mode of study and are equally keen to fast-track their personal and professional development and ultimately their careers.

The Lord Ashcroft International Business School has also worked in partnership with Barclays to design and deliver a work-based Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and MA Leadership which is offered as part of Barclays Retail Banking Graduate Development Programme. This programme utilizes business projects to enable graduates to demonstrate added value to the business via applying their knowledge and understanding to real business issues and problems.

Innovations in course design and links and partnerships with business are central to the development of students, courses and the university. This is particularly relevant at a time of change within the sector and to ensure we are leading the way when it comes to employer engagement, widening participation, and the outcomes of degrees for both students and prospective employers.
