Bishop Hall Mill Pond
The project to restore the beauty and natural habitat of a mill pond dating back to Elizabethan times was completed in 2009. Professor Michael Thorne, Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University, said at the time, "Through remediation works to what was a severely degraded pond we have raised the profile of an important historical site for Chelmsford. In addition, as the pond matures it will become a valuable ecological and amenity asset. We hope that the public of Chelmsford will enjoy using this site as much as our students and staff".
Please feel free to visit the pond. For further information please visit our New Spaces page.

Anglia Ruskin University Heart and Sole Lunchtime Health Walk
We are now working in partnership with Chelmsford Borough Council to provide our staff, students and the localcommunity the opportunity to take part in a lunchtime health walk.
The brand new walk, which is part of our Active Anglia programme, lasts 30 minutes and enables walkers to meet new people and walk through the beautiful Chelmer Valley Nature Reserve.
All walks are led by qualified walk leaders every Tuesday throughout the year and are free to attend. The walk starts outside the Lord Ashcroft Building on the Chelmsford Campus at 12:15pm. After wards participants can socialise in the café and claim a free tea or filter coffee.
Walkers need to wear comfortable, sensible shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. This is a low-level fitness activity so all abilities are welcome.
