Hospital accommodation for Fulbourn-based courses
If your course includes a placement at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, you can apply to live in Harston House. It is located on the hospital site, and managed by Sanctuary Management Services. You will live with others studying nursing, midwifery or operating department practice.
The bedrooms
Harston House has 260 bedrooms.- Furniture - single bed, desk with drawers, chair for desk, wardrobe with drawers, overhead storage
- Bathroom - your room will have a sink with mirror/light and vanity unit. On most corridors of 12-14 rooms there are two bathrooms with shower, one shower room and two toilets
- Internet - dial up internet is available at extra cost
- Telephone - available at extra cost
The building
- Kitchen - you will share a large kitchen with 12-14 others. Some corridors have an additional smaller kitchen
- You will have a lockable kitchen cupboard
- The kitchens have fridge/freezers, cookers, kettles and toasters. They do not have microwaves
- Cleaning - communal areas (kitchens, bathrooms, toilets) are cleaned once a week. You will need to clean your own room
- Security entry phone in your room
- Smoking - Addenbrookes has a non smoking policy throughout the site (besides designated smoking areas). You are allowed to smoke in the bedroom within reason, bearing in mind the smoke alarms.
The location and transport
You will live on the Addenbrooke's Hospital site. It is 3 miles from the Fulbourn campus, where the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education is based, and where you will have your lectures. It is 2.5 miles from the main Cambridge campus on East Road, where students in other faculties are based.The bus stop at the front of Addenbrooke's has many bus routes passing through, as well as the Park and Ride. Travelling to Fulbourn by bus takes about 10 minutes. Buses go directly to Cambridge railway station (less than 2 miles away) which has regular direct trains to London King's Cross. The central shopping area of the city is also easy to get to.
Bicycle racks and car parking are available for you at the hospital site.
Occupancy agreements
- The current rent is approximately £282.44 per month
- The rent is paid monthly on the first of every month
- A deposit is required which is equivalent to one month's rent
- Council tax, electricity, heating and water rates are included in the rent, but you do need to organise your own contents insurance and TV licence if you would like them.

We will check that you are eligible to apply and refer your application on to Sanctuary.You will be offered accommodation for one academic year and normally this accommodation is for first year students only. Priority is given to students whose home is geographically distant from their study site - those from over 35 miles away.
Unfortunately due to the high demand for accommodation we cannot guarantee all students a room - you should apply as soon as you have firmly accepted a course offer.
