Accommodation fairs for returning students - to help you find a new home for the 2013/14 Academic Year!

Don't rush into anything! This fair is for current students to help with your search for a home in the private sector for next academic year. Private sector accommodation, usually in shared houses, is owned by individuals or property companies who rent out to tenants.

We are launching new house hunting lists to coincide with the fairs.
Whether you want to stay with a group or friends, share with new people you don't yet know, or stay on your own, the fair will help you find out about the many aspects of living in privately rented accommodation. Including how to look for accommodation, what accommodation is available, your rights and responsibilities while renting, what to do if there are problems, and understanding how the tenancy deposit scheme works.

We encourage you not to secure accommodation before this event.

Cambridge: Wednesday 13 February 10:30 - 15:30, LAB 005
Chelmsford: Thursday 14 February 10:30 - 15:30: MAB reception

Student Switch Off!

If you live in The Student Village, Peter Taylor, Swinhoe, Anastasia or Bridget's and Nightingale, join the competition to see who can save the most energy. Join Student Switch Off!

Want to win Ben & Jerry's ice cream, Lush cosmetics and NUS Extra cards for helping to tackle climate change? Then sign up to the Student Switch Off interhall energy-saving competition.

By doing so, you are pledging to use energy carefully in halls and to encourage your flatmates to do so as well. All you have to do is switch lights and appliances off when not in use, put a lid on the pan when cooking and not overfill the kettle. Easy!

In Cambridge the hall that saves the most energy during the first term will be rewarded with a Ben & Jerry's social, and there are loads of individual prizes every few weeks!

In Chelmsford the flat that saves the most energy in the Student Village during the first term will be rewarded with a Domino's pizza party, and there are loads of individual prizes every few weeks!

To get involved, become a fan of 'Anglia Ruskin Student Switch Off' on Facebook and post the name of your hall on the wall of the fanpage. You can also sign up if you're not on Facebook.

Check out the Switch Off website for more information.
