Life Sciences - Forensic Science

Scientist
Our Department prides itself on producing highly qualified graduates, whose knowledge and experience meet the current needs of the industry. Our courses are highly valued by industry and our BSc(Hons) and MSc in Forensic Science are accredited by the Forensic Science Society and recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Our Department has very strong links with Industry, and our courses (BSc (Hons) Forensic Science, BSc (Hons) Crime and Investigative Studies and MSc in Forensic Science are written in liaison with colleagues from local and national companies to ensure that our graduates have the relevant knowledge and experience to succeed in their career aspirations. The lecturing staff regularly attend and present research at conferences and publish work in journals, which enables us to keep the courses current and engaging. We also have links with Forensic providers, allowing us to use these to connect our students with local employers and we run an employment and careers forum for our student.

Our students are offered sessions relating to volunteering, to highlight opportunities for them to get involved in extra-curricular activities, and Course Leader offers 1-1 sessions with final year students to discuss their career plans. In addition to this, our Field Trips provide insights into employer organisations and give students experience of working practices.
