English, Communication, Film and Media

Jane Harman

A graduate of the MA Publishing, Jane was appointed as an Editorial Assistant at Cambridge University Press

Jane Harman's work on the MA in Publishing always showed promise - great creativity and flair. Her work ranged from meticulously researched marketing strategy analyses to highly innovative, on-trend book proposals, but the best was yet to come. Jane submitted a business plan for 'Nest' - a quirky interior design magazine - for her Major Project. Not only did she produce a beautiful mock-up of the product, but she accompanied this with a highly thoughtful and persuasively written business plan. This assignment received an 85, thus winning the Cambridge University Press 'best major project' prize of £500, and was singled out by Alison Baverstock, the external examiner, as a particularly fine example of the sort of Major Project that Publishing MAs should be producing. Jane's Major Project has now also been entered in the nationwide major project competition organised by the Association for Publishing Education (APE).
