Volunteering, placements and work experience can help you gain the right skills and experience to get you into your chosen field of work.

The Employability Service advertises placements, internships and volunteering opportunities on our current vacancies page and on our placements pages. We can also help you source opportunities relevant to you, make a successful application and practise your interview skills.

There are many internships, placements and work experience available, and some are unpaid. This has become more common for non voluntary organisations as a result of the recession. Most companies will however pay reasonable expenses. In view of this situation, we recommend that you read the guidelines on the National Minimum Wage before applying for unpaid positions.
