“From my initial day registering with the Employment Bureau, I had nothing but great experiences, from the warm welcome to the University made to me by the staff, to the fast and efficient processing of all my paperwork. Within weeks of registering I was found a work placement, and with my many work placement related questions, was fully supported and guided through all paperwork and procedures that I needed to process week on week.

The support and guidance that I was given during work placements was always prompt and detailed and both Rachel and Helen were always willing to answer all questions I had, no matter how small.

Something that I would like to highlight as a great aspect of my experience was the support that I also got while I was not on a work placement. Those periods when I was awaiting my next assignment could at times be stressful, but Rachel and Helen always kept me informed of all work available and were always willing to guide me through applying for the posts.

From registration paperwork, to more complicated financial paperwork, the Employment Bureau was always available for advice, guidance and assistance.

Without a doubt I contribute my now permanent employment to the help, guidance, support and work placements that were found for me by the Employment Bureau, for without their help I would not have gained the work experience I subsequently have.

I would greatly advise both students and non-students alike to register with the Employment Bureau, for the advice and guidance that is available for job seekers and also for the invaluable work experience you can gain, in particular while studying, which would serve you well in the future.

“The Employability Service has been excellent in finding work for me. from work as a student ambassador to full time temporary work within the University. The Employment Bureau provide an almost tailor made service with jobs that are suitable for each individual. The small team are friendly and approachable, and always go that extra mile even with graduates.

After graduating I left university and got a retail job in a small shop but unfortunately lost my job and was unemployed for a year. I was lost and feeling as if my education would never really benefit me in a working environment. So I visited the Employment Bureau in Cambridge on a Friday afternoon and by chance was offered a job to start the following Monday, I was told to "wear trousers and a tie". For the next 9 months I was almost consistently offered jobs. When one finished, another one started. I am now a fully employed member of staff at Anglia Ruskin University. Thanks to the Employability team and the fantastic members of Student Services as a whole.

“Thank you so much for the great support that I have had from the Employment Bureau. As an international postgraduate student of Anglia Ruskin University, I have gained valuable work experience both in the Academic Office and HR Services department in Ashby House and I will use the knowledge in my upcoming career prospects in Malawi.

In addition, there has been no better way for me to earn and raise finances for my upkeep while I prepared for my final home return. I am sure many past, present and future international postgraduates who use such opportunities, are able to appreciate and be grateful for how much help the Employability Service contributes not only at immediate relief on upkeep needs but also the work experience that improves CVs for potential employment.

I will remain an Anglia Ruskin Ambassador in Malawi for the great academic knowledge and student experience that I have gained.
