Statement of Service

Aim

To provide a Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) Assessment Service to students, who may be attending any university or HE provider within the UK.

Objectives

  • To provide relevant and up-to-date information, in a variety of formats, to students and staff on the DSA process
  • To work closely with other parts of our University
  • To develop and maintain close links with key external agencies
  • To manage the quality of provision to meet the DSA Quality Assurance Framework standards

We will:

  • Provide a service that is delivered by fully trained staff
  • Provide bookings for DSA assessments within 15 working days of first contact, wherever possible, or advise students of other Assessment Centres
  • Provide information and advice from our email address (dsa@anglia.ac.uk) and webpage (www.anglia.ac.uk/aac)
  • Provide supplementary materials from appropriate external organisations
  • Refer to other sources of information and advice as appropriate
  • Provide an opportunity to give feedback and comments on our service and make suggestions or recommendations for improvements

We expect you to:

  • Keep appointments and attend any events that you have booked in advance
  • Let us know as soon as possible if you cannot make an appointment
  • Make us aware in advance of any special needs you may have
  • Offer us feedback to help us improve our services

Standards of Delivery / Quality Assurance:

Assessors will:

  • Respect your right to make your own decisions
  • Endeavour to act in your best interests, based on their professional assessment.
  • Have a commitment to work with you in a boundaried, competent, and non-exploitative manner
  • Work within legal guidelines, being just and fair to you and respecting your human rights and dignity

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • An appointment should be offered within 15 working days of first contact
  • A draft report is to be sent to the student within 10 working days of assessment (if requested)
  • The student has 5 working days to respond to the draft report
  • Amendments to a draft report should be completed within 3 working days of the student's response and a new draft sent to the student if the changes are significant
  • The student has a further 3 working days to respond to the second draft report
  • The final report must be distributed within 1 working day of the Assessor receiving confirmation from the student
  • If a student does request draft report, then the final report must be distributed within 10 working days of assessment
  • If, for any reason, these KPIs are not going to be met, the Assessor must email the student and the office informing them of the delay and giving a predicted date of completion.

Signposting

This is a key aspect of our service and, where appropriate, we will provide students with contact details for services within their host university or for external agencies in order to offer the best and most appropriate forms of support.
