DSA Assessments

A DSA (Disabled Students' Allowance) assessment is requested by a student's funding body when a student successfully applies for a DSA.

The assessment process

  • Assessments usually take between one and two hours.
  • The Assessor will discuss your particular difficulties and concerns with regard to accessing your course. Your views are a very important part of the assessment and you will be fully involved in your assessment.
  • The Assessor may introduce you to a range of equipment.
  • There are no tests as part of the assessment.
  • The Assessor will discuss their recommendations with you.
  • After the assessment you will receive a draft report. You will have the chance to read it through and then contact the Centre if you have any queries.
  • The final version of the report will be sent to you and your funding body. If previously agreed by you, a copy will also be sent to your Disability Officer.
  • Your funding body will consider the report and advise you of their decision and how to proceed.
  • We strongly advise that you do not order any equipment until told to do so, in writing, by your funding body. You may end up paying for any equipment refused by your funding body.
  • You will receive a link to feedback survey after the assessment. It would help us improve our service if you could complete this for us. If you have any concerns, which you would like addressed by the Anglia Assessment Centre Manager, please do not hesitate to contact us.
